It has seem liked forever but I finally got the kids pictures back!!! They are all so great I just picked some at random.

Big Name

The other day I was getting after Aubrey and did the very motherly thing of using her full name. It went something like "Aubrey Danyale Christensen get over here right now!".

Logan was standing next to me and asks "Is that Aubrey's big name?". I tell him yes and then ask him if he knows his big name, to which he replies "Yes, it is Logan Dad Christensen".

I guess that is close enough.

Happy St.Patrick's Day!!!

Last night we started a new fun tradition, the kids set their shoes by the front door to catch treasure from the leprechaun. This morning they had each gotten 6 gold coins (the new gold dollars) and some green candy (Airheads & Blow Pops). The leprechaun even left some shamrocks on the door to give us good luck. Lucky Kids!!!

Disney on Ice Again!!!

Yes we went to Disney on Ice again. What can I say your can get tickets cheap and we love it. This time we went with my good friend Lisa Tuecher and her darling family. We meet and had lunch at the Crown Burger first then walked to the Energy Solutions Arena. The kids loved it, Peter Pan was the all around favorite, because Tinker Bell kept shooting fairy dust from her wand, then Peter, Wendy, John & Michael flew, then a giant inflatable alligator ate Captain hook. What's not to love.

No Peeing in the tub!!

I have been telling both the kids how gross it is to pee in the tub and that they should get out when they need to go. So last night while I was bathing the kids Aubrey decided she needed to pee. I helped her out and placed her on the little potty chair, where to my surprise she went!! She then stood up, picked up the potty bowl (this is where we usually dump the contents into the toilet) and before I could stop her she dumped the pee into the tub! Then as proud as can be looks at me and says "Cleaned up". I guess she tried.

Our week

This week has been non-stop play. After the snow melted the kids have loved playing outside, so even though it was still pretty cold I took them to the park. They had fun for about 10 mins. then because the playground was made of metal their hands started freezing. I did get these great pictures before we left.

On Tuesday we we to the mall and had Lunch with a family friend (Jen Cha) and her kids (Katelyn & Kaston). We ate lunch then let the kids have a ride on the merry-go-round. This they loved. The South Town mall has a little indoor park that is dinosaur themed and the kids just get to run crazy. We spent over an hour there and the kids had so much fun. There are slides and a big tree with tunnels in it and a giant egg they can climb on and much more. When they were finally tired we ended the outing with cookies from Mrs. Fields, yum!




Wednesday is our weekly play group (if any one want to join let me know we have SO MUCH fun) are we went to this cutest little museum called The Gale Center. They have everything set up how it would of been when the city of West Jordan was created. The best part is that most of it is interactive and the kids can play in the displays. They have an school, market, farm, kitchen & mine. There are a few displays that the kids can't touch but only like 3 or 4. It was really cool and free to boot. After the museum we ended the day at McDonalds a huge treat for my kids.

Logan loved the little school. He played here almost the entire time.


I don't know who this other little girl is but she and Aubrey played so cute.


Later that night we went to the Hockey game. This is nothing new for us but this night we Let Logan bring a friend. We have never done this before. He wanted to bring the little neighbor Gabriel. They has so much fun and behaved them self well. In between the period I take the kids upstairs to an empty part of the arena and let them run around. After making up a number of fun games of tag we were headed back to our seat and Logan ran a head and got on the elevator and was just standing there waiting for us when all of the sudden the doors closed. Gabriel screams for me ( being about 10 seconds behind the boys) and desperately started clawing at the doors trying to get them to open again. I, trying to remain calm and clam Gabriel down, try to convince us both that it is not a big deal and the Logan will just be waiting for us at the bottom. Right then the doors open (I think Gab's clawing triggered the sensors) and Logan comes running out hysterical. So we have a nice talk about how to never get on an elevator with out mom or dad and what to do if it ever happens again. Drama!!! The rest of the game they sat in their seats and played Spiderman action figures. I think they were both a little freaked out.



Thursday we babysat cousins. We had kids here all day. They played out in the fort and sandbox, raced bikes and drew on the sidewalk. The kids loved it. Then last night I had book club (we read "Pope Joan" a really good book). When I got back both kids had fallen a sleep in their cloths. They had had a buys day and week. Lucky Us.

Photographer

OK, I have bee looking for a great photographer for a while now. I have really wanted to get my kids photos taken by someone beside the 20 year old at the mall. We I finally found a what I was looking for. Katie at Peek-a-boo Photography was the right match for us. So I set up an appointment and then stressed out for a week about what my kids would wear (even ended up with a cold sore). The studio is in the basement of her house and her and her husband work together seamlessly. She would be taking photos and as soon as she started having a hard time getting good responses from the kids he would take over (they wouldn't even talk about it) and the kids would be trilled with the new tricks that the husband would do to coax a smile or new expression and everything just keep on going. It was awesome. We were there for 2 hours and they took over 450 photos of my kids (I get 60-80 of the best). They just let the kids be them selves and kind of just followed them around. I am so excited to get the photos that I dream about it. As soon as I get them I will share.

The Gallon Challenge

I guess this is a very common activity attempted by board college and military guys. I was surprised at how much is posted on the Internet about this challenge.

During a lunch break Scott's co-workers were talking about the milk challenge and how nobody at their frat house has been able to do it. Scott hearing the conversation decided that he could do it. Everyone took bets against him and today he attempted the task. Drum roll please...........

He totally did it!!!!

He said it made him a little nauseous and very sleepy but it wasn't to bad. He ended up winning $85 and lunch (although I can't believe that he had room for lunch). I am both very proud of him and a little grossed out. I don't know maybe history was made today.

Blanket from Grandma Gerritsen

When Scott's wonderful grandma was alive she crocheted a blanket for every baby born. Well after her death Scott's Aunt Bonnie keep all of Grandma's yarn and has continued the tradition. This last week while Scott was in Vegas has been the first time any of us has seen Bonnie since Aubrey was born and she gave Scott Aubrey's blanket. It is just darling and Aubrey loves it. Today for nap time her "Binka" was in the wash so I told her to go and pick a different blanket. This request is usually meet with tears and her throwing her self on the floor in a fit of despair. Today was different she marched into her room picked the new grandma blanket and was a sleep in about 5 mins. Thanks Aunt Bonnie for keeping such a great part of the family history alive!!!

Alphabet Crown

Today Logan earned his Alphabet Crown at school!!! This is a huge deal and the prize of all his hard work through out the year. In order to get an Alphabet Crown you must know all of the letter by site and know their sounds. This includes the vowels and BOTH their short and long sounds. When A child earns this coveted crown (they act like the thing is actually made or gold) the principle present it to the child in front of everyone and the entire class screams (in Logan's words) "Hip-hip- horray!!!" lots of times. I wish I could of been there to see him beaming.

When he got home he wanted to call and tell everyone. Papa was first (because dad wasn't picking up) and the pride in his voice was unmistakable. I am very proud of him and I am pretty sure he is darn proud of him self which is far more important then my approval.

Lemon Chicken

This is my new favorite recipe. Super easy and YUMMY.


INGREDIENTS
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
3 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 2-inch strips
2 eggs, slightly beaten
1 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup lemon juice
1 1/2 teaspoons curry powder

DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).

In a bowl, stir together paprika, salt, and pepper. Sprinkle seasoning over chicken pieces. Dip pieces in egg, then dredge in bread crumbs. Arrange chicken pieces in a single layer in an aluminum foil-lined 15x10-inch jelly roll pan.

Bake in preheated oven for 20 minutes, turning once.

In a small saucepan over medium-low heat, stir together sugar, lemon juice, and curry powder, stirring until sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes.

Drizzle lemon sauce over chicken, return to oven, and bake 5 minutes more.
