Long weekend at Grandma's

Over the weekend of October 25th my kids and I went to my mom's house for the annual LeRoy Halloween party. We arrived on Thursdays afternoon. Thursday was a great normal day not anything to report on. Friday was had a blast, Darshell took the kids to the store and let them all pick out their own birthday presents, any toy of their choice. The kids had a blast (Kori and her kids were their also). We made Carmel popcorn, hung out and played, played, played. My grandma Jo come up for dinner and right as were were finishing the power went out. It was pitch dark and the kids weren't sure if they should freak out or not. We rounded up flashlights and candles and ended up having a great time. We did crazy flashlight dances and sang happy birthday to no one so the kids could blow out the candles. the power ended up being off for about 20 minutes and we had fun for everyone of them. The kids were then so hyper they would not go to bed until 11:30 pm.

You can't tell with my super flash but the power was off.

Well that night Aubrey had a fever and a cold and was miserable the entire night, we didn't hardly sleep a wink. Then Logan woke up complaining of a stomach ache. The next thing I knew he was puking everywhere, luckily grandma saw this coming and instructed me to "Hurry get a bowl!!". He puked the entire rest of the day.

I was really bummed because I hate when my kids are sick and my Grandma Jo was going to come over and teach me how to make her amazing shredded apple pie (not an easy thing to get her to agree to. In fact Kori once asked her to teach her to make bread and she told her no, ha-ha). So after dealing with puke all day and we still had to make our dishes for the Halloween party plus get dressed up and the entire time I am still dealing with puke from Logan and snot from Aubrey. We finally get everything done, Logan finished puking 5 minutes before we left and we were only 10 minutes late. Just on a side note I was going to stay home from the party with my two sick kids but was talked out of it by my school teacher cousin, who informed me that the other kids pass by hundreds of kids everyday and are exposed to every germ in the book. In other words my sick kids were not a big deal. So we finally got there and made a bed for logan in the corner on the other side of the room and joined the festivities. The food was good and the desserts were even better. All the kids looked great. Logan didn't feel like dressing up so he went as himself in pajamas.

Logan ate like four chips and just laid there for the first half of the party but as soon as they announced that it was time for the pinata he was cured!!! It was a miracle. I still kept an empty bowl with in arms reach the entire time but he did great. My kids loved the pinata. They go in order of age from youngest to oldest so Aubrey was one of the very first to go and had a blast. Every time she hit it she would look at me with a huge smile then hit it again. Then it was Logan's turn and he is the youngest of the bigger kids and had to show everyone that he was tough. He hit that thing so hard it was kinda shocking.
After that the kids all went ghost hunting. they all had butterfly nets and went out side where there were white balloons floating around tied to candy. They loved it.
After that the kids colored papers that will be turned into plates, such a great idea. Thanks to Aunt Val and family for doing such a great job again this year.

So as the party goes on Logan is getting better and better and Aubrey is quickly going down hill. After the pinata she just wanted to be held, she wouldn't even do the ghost hunt. then as soon as we get home and get everyone into their new Halloween PJs that grandma gave them, yes you guessed it Aubrey started puking. In fact she puked all over me and her and the table and floor and Grandma. It was nasty!! Well the puking continued all night and all I can say is THANK GOD for Kori. As Aubrey puked and I took care of her Kori had the bed stripped, laundry started and new blankets. She did all of this and never woke up Logan ( a sleep in the same bed as Aubrey and I were in). The next morning Kori and kids left and me and my mom spent the entire day bleaching her house.
I decided not to go home until Monday, I hate puke and could not handle it in the car (shallow I know). They kids also did all the fun things that grandma's house. Even though the weekend was crazy we still ended up fitting all the fun stuff that goes along with being at grandma and papa's house. They went on rides on the rhino, played with peanut-butter play-dough, got matching PJs (twice), played with cousins, watched the cows and zebras, feed the horses and jumped on the bed. It was the best, exhausting, yucky, fun, excited weekend ever.

After Halloween party before Aubrey pucked

Very proud of my spider web bean dip for the party.

Hallie gave every one make-overs on Saturday. You can't tell but I have sparkle eye, pink cover-up and blue blush. I looked great!

So fun!! I love that Party. Good thing your kiddos got better before Halloween. It sounds like the tea party was way fun. Hope we can make it another time. Avery is dying to play with Logan.
