Zoo with Friends

OK I haven't sat down to blog for a couple of weeks and a lot has happened. So you are going to get everything at once.

At the first of July Me and kids went to the zoo with my very best friends from college. Monica and Lisa and I took almost every class together in college and all graduated with the same degree. I love them so much and now that we are all married and have kids and jobs we don't jet to get together very often so it is a real treat when we get to.

This is Lisa and her darling daughter Ava, she also had a beautiful 5 year old daughter Karmen and unfortunately I didn't end up with a photo of her.

We all had so much fun and it was a perfect day. We caught a bunch of shows and seen thing my kids had never seen before.
The zoo workers were walking around with different things and letting the kids touch them. Aubrey really wanted to pick up this Ggiant African Centipede. It felt like it was made of plastic.



Every time we go to the zoo the tiger is always sleeping. This time he was awake and hanging out in the water right by the glass. The kids were loving it.

Logan's Sunflowers & Pumpkins

We let Logan plant anything he wanted in the garden this year. He picked sunflowers. I think it is beacuse a neighbor gave us a book when Aubrey was born about alittle boy named Logan (no lie) who planted sunflowers (Thanks Nina). We also ALWAYS plant pumpkins (Scott and I's favorite thing to plant). So the first photo is of Logan planting the seeds and the second is how big the plants are today. I will show you their progress, because both the sunflowers and pumpkins are SUPPOSE to get pretty big.

Johansen Reunion

We just got back from the Johansen Reunion down by Loa. We had so much fun with all our family. My mom was in charge this year and did a great job. She prepared super fun games for both the kids and adults, and she got everyone involved (This is amazing with our family). We did a family trivia game that was so fun and we learned exactly how amazing and strange our family is. We also ALL (again amazing) went on a ride and went looking for arrowheads. My grandma LOVES looking for arrowheads and we had a blast looking and my cousin Matt found a perfect one. He was so proud (as he should be).

The kids loved riding 4-wheelers and finding grasshopper. They all had empty gatorade bottles filled with little grasshopper habitats. They all had names and stories about them, because they could talk you know. Logan's grasshopper was named logy, I think he named it after himself. They also played golf and caught butterflies and my mom kept sending them out to find "rabbit eggs" (round wight rocks that were every where). The kids would be gone for about 5-10 min. and then if they cam back with a good rabbit egg they would get a quarter. I think Logan came home with $1.50 and was so excited that he had money for the ice cream man.

The funniest thing was the kids found an old cowboy boot that had a cow bone sticking out of it. The kids were freaking out thinking it was a human bone. They carried this thing around the entire time. They called it "the bone in the boot" and had to take turns taking care of it. We kept telling them to put it back and they would and then a few min. later someone else would have it.

We all have a new s'more favorite. We used graham crackers, coconut marshmallows and peanut butter. They are amazing. Scott and I came up with this recipe in out backyard fire pit and everyone (the adults mostly) at the reunion went nuts for them. Scott is the best marshmallow roaster in the world, no fooling. So he spent every evening taking marshmallow orders.


I am glad that our family is so close and all get along to the most part. I am glad that my mom and her sisters and brother take the time and effort to do this every year.

Bee's Game

We took the kids to a Bee's game last week and they had a great time. They both loved the peanuts. Logan was a cracking pro and Aubrey kept asking for more so I kept giving them to her then after about 10 min. she looked at me and spit 6 whole peanuts into my hand. She was just sucking the salt off so we just started giving her the entire thing.




The kids loved the mascot Bumble. Logan kept calling him Mr. Bumble, I thought that was so sweet. Aubrey was all about Mr. Bumble. She kept reaching for him and pointing him out in the crowd and smiling and clapping when ever she saw him, untill...... we got up close and was ready to take the picture. So, yes she is crying. Little stink.

Friday Night Trama

Friday June, 13th (horrible date) my sweet, perfect baby girl burned her hand on Scott's motorcycle muffler. The palm of her right hand was just covered with blisters and she was hysterical. I ran her to the InstaCare where they soaked her hand in cool saline and determined that she had 2nd degree burns. They gave her meds for the pain and wrapped her hand. The next day I had to take her back in, where they cut the skin off all the blisters (they do this so that the skin heals smooth) and rewrapped them. It is so sad and such a silly thing. Scott and I feel so bad because it was so easily preventable. She is doing great and acting like nothing happened. Every once in a while I see her go to pick something up with her right hand, look at it and then use the left. Good thing she is such a happy little girl, not even this will get her down.

Baby Raccoons

Our neighbors Melanie and Paul (and Kids) are raising 2 abandoned raccoons named Lily & Roxy. They are so adorable. They just nibble on you like a baby puppy, but they make the sweetest sounds like a kitty. I can't even imagine how hard it is going to be for them to release them back into the wild. Logan was a little scared because he could see their teeth and claws (tiny but sharp), but warmed up to them quickly. Aubrey wanted to hug and kiss them to death. She kept doing the sign for dog and mauling them as much as I would let her. It was fun to get to hold and love a wild creature. Thanks Mel.
